As a family team effort, Sands of the Keys is also involved in the Outlaw Modified open wheel specialty racing series and has won three season championships in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Randy Sands #8 carThe Outlaw Modified Racing Series has enjoyed tremendous success in the last seven years by providing fans with some of Florida's fastest and most exciting short-track racing with a fun family atmosphere, strong organization and good competition.

In 2002, there were 49 cars registered, many of which are built and run by family teams.

Randy began racing against his father George in 1992 in the Pro-4 of Florida traveling series and finished 6th in points. In 1995, George and Randy decided to join forces and created Keys Motorsports. With Randy behind the wheel, George as crew chief, Randy's wife Michelle as assistant crew chief, and their son Daniel as #1 fan, Keys Motorsports began building cars and winning races.

In 1997, Keys Motorsports built a new car from a cut down '34 Ford Sedan and painted it a bright coral color. A rule change then made the cars go topless, transforming the aggressive-looking '34 into an unusual sight. The car was soon known all over the state as the "Pink Bathtub."

After winning three championships in a row, the team took a break during the 2001 season but then returned to the circuit with a new car based on a 1957. The new #8 car was quickly dubbed the "Pink Cadillac" and has already scored
multiple wins throughout the state.

Car Sponsors include: Sands of the Keys, Inc., Storage Solutions, Gone Broke Racing Engine, Pro Shocks, Joe's Radiator, Race cars by Neil, and Home Office Bookkeeping.
